Update Issue Assignee

Description

Assigns or unassigns a user to a Jira issue.

Configuration

  • Connection - The connection established in Integration Service. Access the dropdown menu to choose, add, or manage connections. This field supports only strings or String variables.
  • Issue - Start typing the issue name or key (e.g., Proj-12345) to search the list of issues available in the dropdown menu. This field supports only strings or String variables.
  • Assignee - In the absence of an Issue key above, the list of assignees doesn't load. If nothing is provided in this field, the issue remains unassigned.

How it works

The Update Issue Assignee activity does three things:

  1. Replaces an existing assignee.

  2. Adds an assignee if the issue was unassigned.

  3. Removes an assignee.

While using the activity, if you want to replace the assignee, you must first select the Issue key and then search for the assignee.

Note:

The Assignee look-up doesn't load any assignees unless an issue key is selected, because the look-up is dependent on the Issue key. For details, see the User Assignable API.

If you want to update assignees of different issues, you can use a variable for the Issue field and keep the Assignee field intact. Alternatively, you can use the Invoke Operation activity with a Find users object.
