Remove Duplicates


Deletes duplicate rows in a specified range. The activity can be used with Excel files selected for parent Use Excel File activities or with the Project Notebook.

Configuring the Activity

In the Body of the Activity
  • Range - Click Plus docs image on the right side of the field and then, from the menu, select a named range, table, or sheet to be read, or select Indicate in Excel to open the file and select a range directly from the file. Alternatively, you can select Custom Input to enter the range manually, or Open in Advanced Editor and enter a VB expression.
  • Has headers - Select this option if the first row in the range is a header row.
  • Columns to compare - The columns to be compared in order to determine if a row is duplicate. If the values in all of the indicated columns are the same as a previous row, it is considered a duplicate.

    • To indicate specific columns to compare, select Compare individual columns, and then click Add Column to add a column to the comparison.
    • To compare all the columns in the selected range, select Compare all columns. This disables the Add Column option and ignores any previously added columns.
Properties Panel


  • DisplayName - The name displayed for the activity in the Designer panel.


  • See the options in the body of the activity.


  • Private - If selected, the values of variables and arguments are no longer logged at Verbose level.
