AADSTS50079: The user is required to use multifactor authentication

Issue

When using Microsoft 365 activities, you encounter the following error: "AADSTS50079: The user is required to use multi-factor authentication."

This error appears when a non-interactive flow is used to authenticate (such as Username and Password or Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA)), and the tenant admin of the organization has enforced multifactor authentication. MFA is incompatible with non-interactive authentication flows.

Solution

Choose one of the following options:

• Use an interactive flow to display the pop-up and perform the multifactor authentication.
• Disable multifactor authentication for that particular account, if you need to use a non-interactive flow.
