Excel Online activities

Note: It can take up to several minutes for the Microsoft API to register changes performed in an Excel file. This may lead to longer debug times for Excel activities and triggers, or to triggers not capturing events.

You must also be aware of when Excel files are updated. With Excel for Desktop, the database is updated when you click the Save button. With Excel Online, the database is updated when you close the Excel window.

The following Excel Online activities are available in the Microsoft 365 activity package:

Activity	Description
Add Sheet	Adds a sheet to the specified Excel workbook.
Copy Range	Uses the Microsoft Graph Get Range, Add Worksheet, and Update Range APIs to copy a range and pastes it to another location.
Create Table	Uses the Microsoft Graph Add table API to create a table from the specified range.
Create Workbook	Creates a new Excel workbook.
Delete Column	Delete a specified column from a sheet, table or range. The column on the right of the deleted column is shifted to the left.
Delete Range	Deletes a cell range from the specified Excel workbook.
Delete Rows	Delete one or several rows from a specified position in a Workbook range. When you delete a row, the cells below are shifted up.
Delete Sheet	Deletes a sheet from the specified Excel workbook.
For Each Row in Workbook	Iterates through the rows in a specified range within a worksheet.
For Each Sheet in Workbook	Iterates through the sheets within a workbook.
Get Cell Color	Uses the Microsoft Graph Get range format API to retrieve the color properties of specified cells (CellAddress) in a workbook (Workbook) worksheet (SheetName). After retrieving the color properties, the activity returns the cell color (Color) as a hex value (e.g., # FFFFFF).
Read Cell	Reads information from the indicated Excel workbook cell.
Read Column	Uses the Microsoft Graph Get range API to retrieve cell values from a specified column (StartingCell) in a workbook (Workbook) worksheet (SheetName).
Read Range	Reads and saves the information from a specified Excel workbook cell range.
Read Row	Uses the Microsoft Graph Get range API to retrieve the values of cells from a specified row (StartingCell) in a workbook (Workbook) worksheet (SheetName).
Rename Sheet	Renames a sheet from the specified Excel workbook.
Set Range Color	Uses the Microsoft Graph Update range format API to set the background color of a specified range.
VLookup Range	Uses the Microsoft Graph Use workbook functions API to find a value in a range using the VLOOKUP function.
Write Cell	Writes information in the indicated Excel workbook cell.
Write Column	Write a column in a selected Excel file using an Array Column or a Data Column.
Write Range	Writes a DataTable variable to a specified Excel workbook cell range.
Write Row	Write a row in a selected workbook file using an Array Row or a Data Row.

• Shortcuts are not fully supported in the activities, so they are not presented in the Browser widget.
