Write Column activity that writes a column of data to an Apple Numbers table.

Description

Writes a column of data to an Apple Numbers table.

This activity writes a single column to a table, either overwriting an existing column, inserting a new column, or appending one at the right edge. You supply the column either as a System.Data.DataColumn or as a collection of objects, and the activity returns a snapshot of the table after the write.

Note:

This package only runs on macOS systems with Apple Numbers installed.

Configuration

You can configure the activity and its properties as follows:

• File (local path) - The path to the Apple Numbers spreadsheet file.

  • Use a File Resource - Switches to a file resource reference instead of a plain path. You can browse for a file in either mode; this only changes how the reference is stored.
  • Use Local File - Switches back to the plain path field, restoring your previous value.

• Sheet - The name of the sheet containing the table.

• Column - The column letter to write to, for example, B. Required for the Overwrite and Insert write modes, and ignored for Append Right.

• Data column - The column data to write, as a System.Data.DataColumn. Used when Data type is set to DataColumn.

• Array column - The column data to write, as an array or IEnumerable of objects. Used when Data type is set to ArrayColumn.

  Note:

  Numbers, booleans, and dates in the column keep their type when written; any other value is handled by Numbers as typed input, the same as if it had been typed directly into the cell.

Input

• Table name - The name of the table. Defaults to the first table in the sheet if not specified.

Options

• Data type - Which column input to use. Select one of the following options:
  • DataColumn - Use the value from Data column (a System.Data.DataColumn). This is the default option.
  • ArrayColumn - Use the value from Array column (an array or IEnumerable of objects).
• Write mode - How to write the column. Select one of the following options:
  • Append Right - Adds a new column at the right edge. The Column letter is ignored. This is the default option.
  • Overwrite - Replaces the existing column at the specified letter.
  • Insert - Inserts a new column at the specified letter, shifting existing columns right.

Output

• Table information - Information about the table after the operation, including sheet name, table name, row count, column count, and header row count.
