Disaster recovery - Active/Passive

This article walks you through the core concepts and architecture of an Automation Suite Active/Passive deployment. To deploy Automation Suite in Active mode, see High Availability – Three availability zones.

Ensuring continuous business automation is at the core of any automation platform. Automation Suite can withstand the complete failure of nodes, entire data centers, or even regions.

Automation Suite multi-site deployments in Active/Passive mode support the following scenarios:

• Same-site deployment – Two Automation Suite clusters deployed in the same site or data center;
• Cross-site deployment – Two Automation Suite clusters deployed in different data centers;
• Same-region deployment – Two Automation Suite clusters deployed in the same region either in the same data center or in different data centers in the same area;
• Cross-region deployment – Two Automation Suite clusters deployed in different regions.

Note:

To deploy Automation Suite in Active/Passive configuration, each of the two clusters requires a two-shard High Availability Addon license.

You can still install products that are not supported in Disaster Recovery with Active/Passive. However, you cannot use these products when the second cluster is in use or active.
