Rolled-up benefit

Rolled-up benefit in Automation Hub, aggregating the estimated benefit of the automations linked to individual process steps into totals for the parent business process.

Rolled-up benefit is the combined estimated benefit of the automations linked to the individual steps of a business process. It gives a business process a benefit figure derived from the automations that make it up, instead of from an assessment of the process as a whole.

What contributes to the rollup

Three conditions determine whether an automation contributes to the rolled-up benefit of a business process:

• The automation is linked to a step of that process's model.
• The link has Include in this process's benefit rollup selected.
• The linked automation has benefit values of its own.

Because the setting belongs to the link rather than to the automation, the same automation can count toward one process and be excluded from another. This keeps an automation that is reused across more than one process from being counted repeatedly at organization level.

Where the per-item figures come from

Alongside the benefit values, the Linked Automation panel shows two per-item figures for the linked automation. Each is sourced from the Execution Assessment, with the Detailed Assessment as a fallback.

Manual time per item	The Time savings per run field of the Execution Assessment. Where that field is not filled in, the value is calculated from the Detailed Assessment.
Manual cost per item	Based on the Cost savings per run field of the Execution Assessment. Where that field is not filled in, the value is calculated from the Detailed Assessment.

The three totals

Total	What it aggregates
Rolled up benefit (hours saved/year)	The sum of Benefit per company (hours saved/year) across the contributing automations.
Rolled up benefit (currency/year)	The sum of Benefit per company (currency/year) across the contributing automations.
Rolled up benefit (FTEs)	The sum of Benefit per company (FTEs) across the contributing automations.

Each total aggregates the corresponding KPI of the linked automations, so the figure changes whenever a contributing automation's own benefit values change.

Where rolled-up benefit appears

• Linked Automations tab of the business process. A banner titled Total estimated benefit (rolled up) shows the number of contributing automations, the three totals, and the Live and In pipeline counts. The banner appears even when the process has no linked automations, with the totals shown as dashes. The list below it shows each linked automation with its type, phase, status, its own Benefit per company values, the node it is mapped to, and a Rollup column indicating whether its benefit counts toward the totals. Each row also offers an Unlink action.
• About page and the edit profile of the business process. The Rolled-up benefit section appears only when the process has at least one linked automation.
• Workspace lists. The three totals are available as columns from the Columns control, and the Sort dropdown includes three matching options for ordering business processes by total benefit. For the column definitions, see Column Information.

Access rights

The rolled-up totals depend on access to every automation that contributes to them. A user without view rights to one or more of the linked automations does not see the totals for that process. The totals are withheld rather than shown as a partial sum, so a figure on screen always reflects the full set of contributing automations.

The Linked Automations list marks the entries such a user cannot access without disclosing the names of those automations.
