About the ServiceNow activity package

Overview

ServiceNow delivers digital workflows that create great experiences and unlock productivity for employees and the enterprise.

UiPath provides two integrations to enable two-way automation between UiPath and ServiceNow: the ServiceNow activity package and the UiPath connector for ServiceNow.

UiPath connector for ServiceNow

Using the Orchestrator APIs, the UiPath Connector for ServiceNow (aka UiPath spoke) enables the inbound automation from ServiceNow to UiPath. This inbound automation support gives you the ability to start/stop jobs and create, retrieve, and edit your UiPath robots, all from within your ServiceNow instance

For more information and to get started, see UiPath spoke in the ServiceNow documentation.

ServiceNow activity package

Using the ServiceNow API, the activities give your UiPath robot(s) the ability to manage your attachments (add, delete, and download) and records (get, update, insert, and delete).

If you're ready to start using the ServiceNow activities, see the Get Started section below. To learn more about the package, keep reading to see How it works and the Technical References.

Note: Please refer to the Product lifecycle page for UiPath Studio version compatibility and support.
How it works

To enable the outbound automation between UiPath and ServiceNow, the activities establish an authenticated connection to the ServiceNow API via the ServiceNow Scope activity.

After the connection is established, the other ServiceNow activities send requests to the applicable ServiceNow API operation(s) using the parameters you enter in the activities' input properties. If the requests are successful, the activities return the response values to the output property variables.

How does it connect?

This is where we need your help.

Before you can use the scope activity to establish a connection to your ServiceNow instance, you must complete the steps outlined in the Setup guide. After you complete the Setup steps, you can begin building your automation projects.

Technical References

The Technical References page includes a complete list of and the links to the ServiceNow API operations used by each activity.

You don't need to be familiar with the ServiceNow API to use the activities. The Technical References are for informational purposes only.

Get Started

Before you build your first project, complete the steps in the Setup guide.

After you complete the setup steps, see the Quickstart guide. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you create working samples of the different activities so that you can verify the connection to your ServiceNow instance and get familiar with the input/output properties.

To learn more about the ServiceNow activities (including example property inputs/outputs), see the Activities page for a complete activity list and links to the activity detail pages.
