Note:
Feature availability depends on the cloud offering that you use. For details, refer to the Feature availability page.
Cloud robots are UiPath-managed execution hosts that run processes without requiring you to provision or maintain on-premises infrastructure. UiPath handles all the work behind the scenes — you configure your automations in Orchestrator and run jobs, while UiPath manages the underlying compute resources.
Cloud robot types
UiPath offers three cloud robot types. The table below compares types by infrastructure ownership model and workload fit.
Managed vs. customer-owned infrastructure:
- UiPath-managed — Automation Cloud Robots (VM and Serverless)
- Customer-owned — Elastic Robot Orchestration in your cloud account
Available robot types
| Type | Description | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| Automation Cloud™ Robots - VM | UiPath provides and manages a virtual machine. You configure the VM and run jobs. | Unattended automations that require a fully configured virtual machine environment. |
| Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless | Fully managed containers with no infrastructure provisioning. UiPath handles all scaling and management. | Background automations and performance testing with zero infrastructure overhead. |
| Elastic Robot Orchestration | Auto-scaling robots in your own cloud account. UiPath manages orchestration within your parameters. | Unattended workloads with variable demand in your own cloud environment. |
