Supported object types for custom fields
Object types that support custom fields, and the conditions that apply when assigning them in your project.
You can assign custom fields to the following object types in your project:
- Requirements
- Test Cases
- Test Sets
You can assign all data types of custom fields (Text, Label, and Rich Text) to multiple object types simultaneously.
Custom fields are subject to the following conditions:
- Custom fields are project-specific and apply only to the object types for which they have been defined.
- Custom field defined for objects synchronized from 3rd party applications are not added to Test Manager. For example, if you have synchronized a Jira requirement for which you had defined a custom field, you will not see an entry in the Details tab of your object, in Test Manager.
Rich Text conditions
- All custom field types, except Text and Rich Text, can be used to filter requirements, test cases, and test sets. For more information, refer to Applying filters and views.
- Grouping is supported only for custom fields of type Label. The Rich Text type cannot be used for grouping.
- The Rich Text custom field type is not supported in Autopilot or Autopilot chat (agent). Querying by this field type is not available.
- Custom fields of type Rich Text do not have a default value.
- The Rich Text custom field type is available for Test Cloud projects only. It is not available in non-Test Cloud (Automation Cloud) projects.
- If a Rich Text custom field is created by a Test Cloud user and the project is subsequently assigned to a non-Test Cloud user, that user can view the field's content but cannot edit it.
