Platform Units and infrastructure costs become relevant when performance tests are executed via serverless cloud robots, since each robot run consumes Platform Units provided by UiPath’s cloud infrastructure.

For on-premises robots, Platform Units are not needed, but customers must ensure they provision and maintain enough local machines to handle the required test load, which drives their own infrastructure costs.

Elastic Robot Pools offer a third option alongside serverless and on-premises: generating load from your own Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud private capacity, scaling load injectors up and down as a test requires, instead of using UiPath's shared multi-tenant infrastructure or maintaining your own on-premises hardware. This is aimed at regulated customers whose compliance posture rules out shared cloud load generation but who don't want to size and maintain on-premises machines themselves.
