Enabling governance at project level
Enable governance at project level in Test Manager, set the default governance state and signing order for new test cases, and assign default approvers.
Before working with governed objects (test cases), you must enable governance at project level.
Prerequisites
To enable testing process governance, you must hold the Test Manager Administrator role, the Test Governance Administrator role, the Project Owner role or be assigned the Test Process Governance permission.
Steps
- Go to Settings.
- Select the Governance tab.
- Toggle on Enable Governance.
- Under Default Governance State, select Governed if you want any newly created object (test case) to be governed by default. If a newly created object is marked as governed, you can still disable the governed state for that object. For more information, on how to disable the governed state for an object, refer to the Disabling governance at test-case level topic.
- Under Default Approvers, assign the users which must approve and sign test cases for newly created objects.
- Under Signing order, toggle on Enforce signing order if you want approvers on newly created test cases to sign in a specific order by default. This setting applies to test cases only. See Enforcing signing order for governed test cases.
- Select Save.
Result
Governance is enabled at the project level. Newly created test cases are governed by default if the Governed option is selected, and the assigned approvers are automatically applied to governed objects. If Enforce signing order is enabled, this becomes the default signing-order behavior for newly created test cases, which can still override it individually.
