Assigning test cases to test sets
Assign test cases to a test set using static or dynamic assignment.
After you create a test set, you need to assign test cases to it. To assign test cases to a test set, open the desired test set, and in the Tasks menu select Assign Test Cases.
Context
You can assign test cases to a test set in two different ways:
- Using Static assignment - manually select the test cases that you want to link.
- Using Dynamic assignment - input the label of the test cases that you want to assign. Whenever an execution is started, all test cases which have at least one of the selected labels assigned are added to the execution.
The following sections describe each way.
Assigning test cases statically
Static assignment links the test cases that you choose manually.
Steps
- Open the test set to which you want to assign test cases.
- In the Tasks menu, select Assign Test Cases.
- Select Static Assignment and choose the test cases.
- Select Assign.
Result
The test cases that you chose are assigned to the test set.
Assigning test cases dynamically
Dynamic assignment adds, at each execution, all test cases that have at least one of the labels that you enter.
Steps
- Open the test set to which you want to assign test cases.
- In the Tasks menu, select Assign Test Cases.
- Select Dynamic Assignment and enter the labels of the test cases.
- Select Assign.
Result
The labels are saved on the test set, and each execution adds the test cases that carry at least one of them.
