Communications Mining User Guide
Managing user and group roles
Role(s) required: Service Admin (tenant roles) or Project Admin (project roles)
To access the Manage Access menu, select the cog icon in the top navigation bar on any page in Communications Mining. This will take you to the Administration page.
Follow these steps to see the available roles for a specific scope (either tenant or project):
- From the Manage Access navigation menu, select either Service or a specific project.
- Select the Roles tab.
To view the permissions granted by each role, select the eye icon on the right side of the role description.

To add a user or Automation Cloud group to a project, you need to give them a role assignment. Check out Managing access in the Automation Cloud user guide for more information about adding users to Automation Cloud groups.
- Navigate to the specific project using the Manage Access left-hand navigation menu.
- On the right side of the page, select Assign role.
- Select the names of the users or groups you want to add role assignments to. All available users and groups in the tenant will be listed.
- Choose the roles you want to assign from the dropdown list.
- Select Assign to complete the process.
Users with the Organization Administrator role can update role assignments at the service level or in any project for any users in the tenant.
Users with the Project Administrator role can update role assignments in any project where they have this role.
Users with the Service Administrator role can update role assignments at the service level.
- From the Manage Access left-hand navigation menu, navigate to the Service view.
- On the right side of the page, select Assign role.
- Select the names of the users or groups you want to add role assignments to. All available users and groups in the tenant will be listed.
- Choose the roles you want to assign from the dropdown list.
- Select Assign to complete the process.
Users with the Organization administrator role can update role assignments at the service level or in any project for any users in the tenant.
Users with the Project Administrator role can update role assignments in any project where they have this role.
Users with the Service Administrator role can update role assignments at the service level.
- Navigate to the Service view or a specific project.
- Use the Manage Access left-hand navigation menu to go to the Service view or the specific project where you need to update or remove role assignments.
- Access Role Assignments.
- In the Role Assignments tab, locate the user or group whose role you want to update or remove.
- Select the three dot icon to the right of the user or group.
- Select Edit or Remove
- To edit role assignments
- Select Edit. This will allow you to add additional roles to the user or group, or remove existing roles.
- To remove role assignments
- Select Remove. This will remove the user or group from the project. A warning pop-up appears, indicating that this action is permanent.

Select the Delete button in the warning pop-up to confirm the deletion.
