Flow in Studio Desktop
Build, test, and deploy Flow processes in Studio Desktop, the UiPath builder installed on a computer, next to your RPA projects.
Studio Desktop is the UiPath builder that you install on a computer. It also holds RPA (robotic process automation) projects, so Flow processes and RPA projects can be built in the same application. The Flow canvas, nodes, variables, and debugging are the same in Studio Web, VS Code, and Studio Desktop.
How Studio Desktop works with the Flow canvas
Studio Desktop opens Flow processes in the same visual editor that VS Code uses, which is delivered as an extension. Studio Desktop provides its own explorer, so the extension adds the canvas without its own sidebar views. Sign-in is part of Studio Desktop, so a process uses the signed-in Studio Desktop session and has no separate sign-in panel.
Flow processes can call RPA projects that are cross-platform, which means projects that are not tied to Windows.
The Data category of the Add node panel doesn't include the Data Fabric nodes in Studio Desktop. To read or write Data Fabric records, build the process in Studio Web or VS Code.
Create a Flow project
- Open a solution in Studio Desktop.
- In the Explorer, select Add a project.
- Under Add to Solution, select Maestro Flow.
The new project opens on the Flow canvas with a Manual trigger already on it. A project that was created in Studio Web can be synced to Studio Desktop and opened on the canvas.
Build with Autopilot
Studio Desktop has Autopilot (Preview), in the Autopilot panel on the right. Describe the process, and Autopilot builds it on the canvas.
Test and deploy
The top of the Studio Desktop window has Design and Debug tabs.
To deploy, select Publish > Publish Solution, then choose a feed in Publish to:
- Orchestrator Personal Workspace Feed deploys the solution to My Workspace, for your own use.
- Orchestrator Tenant Feed only uploads the package. To deploy it, in Orchestrator, select Tenant, then Solutions > Packages, select the solution, and select Deploy.
