UiPathRemoteRuntime.exe is not running in the remote session
Studio User Guide
Last updated Dec 19, 2024
UiPathRemoteRuntime.exe is not running in the remote session
Possible causes for the
UiPathRemoteRuntime.exe
not running in the
remote session are listed below.
Check if the
UiPathRemoteRuntime.msi
is installed on the remote
machine.
The
UiPathRemoteRuntime.msi
installer can be downloaded from:
- Product Downloads in the UiPath Customer Portal
- Resource Center in the UiPath Automation Cloud. To access Resource Center, log in to your Automation Cloud Organization and click the Help button on the navigation bar.
Starting with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 2109, all custom virtual channels are blocked by default. This prevents the UiPath Remote Runtime from working correctly.
You must white list the UiPath Virtual Channel. Follow the instructions from Virtual channels blocked by default to solve this issue.
Possible causes for the
UiPathRemoteRuntime.exe
not starting in the
remote session for your Windows user are:
- The
UiPathRemoteRuntime.msi
was recently installed and the machine wasn't restarted. - Your system administrator hasn't
configured
UiPathRemoteRuntime.exe
to start for your Windows user. See more details in Task Scheduler.
If you've installed
UiPathRemoteRuntime.msi
on the target remote machine
and everything is configured correctly, but you're still getting this error ("Cannot
automate remote app: UiPathRemoteRuntime.exe is not running in the remote session"),
your remote connection might be going through multiple machine hops.
To enable remote automation in this scenario, follow the configuration steps from Remote Runtime Architecture – Multiple RDP Connections.
