Opening a project in Studio Desktop

You have the option to work on your cross-platform projects in both Studio Web and in the desktop version of Studio. Studio Web projects are compatible with the latest version of the Enterprise and Community editions of Studio and can be opened in both Studio and StudioX.

You can either start from a Studio Web project and make it available in Studio, or start from a Studio project and save it to the cloud to make it available in Studio Web. When a project is available in both Studio and Studio Web, the changes you make in one platform are reflected in the other.

To open a project in Studio Desktop, from the Projects page in Studio Web, select See more > Open in Studio Desktop on the right side of a project.

  • If Studio is installed on your machine, select to open it when prompted by your browser. The project opens in a new instance of Studio.
  • If Studio is not installed on your machine, click the link in the Open in Studio Desktop dialog to go to the Resource Center in Automation Cloud and download it.

You can also open a project in Studio Desktop from within a project when adding an activity that is only available in Studio Desktop. Once opened in Studio Desktop, the project is closed in Studio Web and you are redirected to the Projects page.

For more information about working on cloud projects in Studio Desktop, see the Studio guide.
