- Release Notes
August 2021
We have something great to share with you for this release: We have added a new type of account to Automation Cloud, the robot account.
This is a non-user identity that you can set up in the same way as regular user accounts, but no email address is required and the account is clearly identified as a robot throughout the platform. This account type is similar to what Windows uses for running its services and eliminates the need for creating dummy user accounts to run your unattended automations.
Read more about this type of account in About Accounts.
Managing robot accounts
Robot accounts, same as user accounts, are managed by the organization administrator.
We have added a dedicated tab under Admin > Accounts and Groups, called Robot accounts. The look and function of this page is similar to that of the Users tab, which you probably already know.
For instructions, see Adding Robot Accounts.
Robot accounts in UiPath Orchestrator:
Transitioning to robot accounts
If you have user accounts which you used for unattended processes, you can now transition the unattended process to a robot account.
To do so:
- Create a robot account.
-
Set up the robot account for unattended use, same as you would set up a user account.
Make sure you assign the same roles (or add the robot account to groups so that it inherits the required roles) and configure the same robot setup that the user account has to ensure that the process can continue to run without issues.
The robot account does not require any user licenses.
-
Assign the robot account to the same folders where the user account was assigned.
-
Optionally check for and remove any roles that the user account no longer needs.
Terminology changes
Because we now have several type of accounts, not only users, we have renamed the Users and Groups tab of the Admin page to Accounts and Groups.
Debugging unattended processes
We have also made some changes in UiPath Orchestrator so that you can now easily debug unattended processes when interactive login is enforced, which you might find interesting because it also applies for the new robot accounts.
Read the details in the Orchestrator Release Notes.
We are happy to announce that getting your taste of the Enterprise automation experience is now a click-through possibility. You can get yourself up and running immediately, with a month-by-month subscription that you can stop any time you want, with no penalties!
Limited availability (temporary)
For now, this feature is only available to Community and Enterprise Trial customers who are in the United States region.
Later edit: This feature is now available globally, with the exception of Japan.
What's on the Menu
We have put together a few starter licensing plans that are adequately sized and resourced depending on your team size and goals, and they can be ready to use in your organization immediately.
How to Buy
To view and purchase the new licensing plans, organization administrators can now see a Buy Now button at the top right of the Admin > Licenses page.
Cancel or Upgrade Any Time
Buying a certain licensing plan does not mean you're locked in forever. You can cancel anytime and use up what's left of your month, or you can switch to different licensing.
We are constantly working to improve your experience in Automation Cloud. There are no significant changes in this release, but we have included some minor improvements today.
