VS Code-compatible editors
Install the UiPath Autopilot extension in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or VSCodium, sign in, and use chat commands to check usage, send feedback, and set goals.
Autopilot is available as a coding agent in VS Code and compatible editors, such as Cursor, Windsurf, and VSCodium. It plans, builds, runs, troubleshoots, and explains automations in your editor, using the same UiPath skills and CLI tooling as Autopilot in Studio.
Prerequisites
- A UiPath account.
- VS Code 1.120.0 or later, or a compatible editor, such as Cursor, Windsurf, or VSCodium.
Install Autopilot
Install the UiPath Autopilot extension from the marketplace your editor uses, then sign in with your UiPath account.
- Install the UiPath Autopilot extension:
- In VS Code, install it from the VS Code Marketplace.
- In Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium, and other compatible editors, install it from the Open VSX Registry.
- Open the UiPath Autopilot view from the Activity Bar.
- Select Sign in in the panel, and authenticate with your UiPath account. You can also run UiPath Autopilot: Sign In from the Command Palette.
- Enter a task in the chat box, such as a workflow to build or a project to explain.
Autopilot loads the UiPath skills automatically. No other installation, account, or API key is required.
To view Maestro Flows visually, install the UiPath Maestro extension.
Use chat commands
Chat commands check your usage, send feedback to UiPath, or set a goal for Autopilot to work toward.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/usage | Shows your Autopilot usage for the current period. |
/feedback | Starts a feedback report to UiPath. Autopilot asks what worked or what didn't, then opens the report for you to review before sending. |
/goal <text> | Sets a goal that Autopilot keeps working toward until it's met. Pause, resume, or dismiss the goal from the goal banner, or run /goal clear to remove it. |
- In the chat box, enter the command, for example
/usage. Entering/opens the list of available commands. - For
/goal, add the goal text after the command. - Send the message.
For details about your usage quota, refer to Licensing.
