Receiving the Installer File

There are different ways to obtain the Task Capture installer file:

Request the Installer

Fill in the form available on the UiPath Product page. The download link will be sent to you by email.

Download From Automation Hub Platform

If you have a tenant created in Automation Hub, access it and check out the below locations that offer you the possibility to download the Task Capture installer file:

  • The page displayed after an Employee-driven idea was submitted

This page contains the idea score and the option to document the submitted idea using Task Capture.

Access the Employee-driven Assessment page from the Automation Hub User Guide to find out more.

  • The Documentation module under the Automation Profile page

This page contains the documentation added to support the automation submission.

Access the Documentation section from the Automation Hub User Guide to find out more.

Download From Test Manager

If you have a tenant created in Test Manager, download the Task Capture installer file, only if you don't have the tool installed already. The option to download the Task Capture file is available by accessing your Test Manager tenant > Project > Test Cases > select an existing or create a new Test Case > Manual Steps.

Download From UiPath Assistant

Starting with 2021.10 release, users can download and install the Task Capture desktop application directly from the UiPath Assistant.

This is done by expanding the right side panel of the Assistant, and clicking on the "Document a task" tile from the "UiPath Products" section.

If the Task Capture application is not installed on the machine, a pop-up dialog appears with a short description and video about the application and the user is able to install it from here by clicking on the install button. After the application is installed, it should automatically sign in the user using the same account that is active in Assistant. Otherwise, the user can acquire a license by following the steps from Activating Task Capture.

Note: Based on the policies on the machine, administrator rights may be needed in order to install the Task Capture Application.

If Task Capture is already installed on the machine, clicking on the "Document a Task" tile in the Assistant opens the application as usual.

Download From Task Mining

Starting with 2021.10 release, users can download and install the Task Capture desktop application directly from the UiPath Task Mining.

This is done by Exporting a trace from Task Mining to Task Capture. If the Task Capture application is not installed on the machine, a page opens in the browser, and the user is able to download and install it from there. After the application is installed, it should automatically sign in the user using the same account that is active in Task Mining.

Patch release email

Users who purchased Automation Hub and have received the license key for Task Capture activation are sent a monthly email containing information about the newly released patch and a link to download the last version of Task Capture.
