Import Visio diagram

Process diagram files created in Visio can be opened in Task Capture in multiple ways as follows:

Immediately after Task Capture is launched

  1. From the Home Page, select Open from PC, on the left side menu.
  2. In the new window, select a Microsoft Visio Diagram (.vsdx) file.
  3. Select Open.

As a new project

  1. From the Home Page, select New Document.
  2. Go to File menu and select Import Visio diagram option.

    Note:

Import Visio Diagram supports only *.vsdx files that are supported in MS Visio starting 2013 (v15.0) released in 2012.

Files in *.vsd or *.vstx format are not supported.

In a current project

When a Build diagram or capture process is already in progress, you can import a Visio file by going to File menu > Import Visio diagram option.

A new project will be created for the selected Visio file and you will be prompted to choose if you wish to save the changes of the current project.

Regardless of the opening method, a notification on the bottom-right side indicates the status of the opening file. This can be:

  • Successful - it shows up if Task Capture mapped the diagram elements without issues.

  • Error - it shows up if the diagram after mapping to Task Capture was empty.
