Install and update

Install Delegate through the shared Studio, Assistant, and Robot installer, and set up your UiPath account to get started.

Delegate installs through the same package that installs UiPath Assistant, and it appears as a component you select during that install.

Prerequisites

Installing Delegate on Windows

  1. Download one of the Delegate installers:

    Note:

There is a delay between Community and STS releases — features available in Community reach STS only after this delay. Community can also be expected to receive more frequent updates.

The LTS release includes every feature released to STS up to that version, on a slower, more stable update cadence.

  2. Run the installer.

  3. Select Assistant, Delegate & Cartographer from the list of components. Robot and Extensions are selected automatically along with it.

  4. Accept the terms in the License Agreement.

  5. Optionally, use Advanced configuration to customize the install.

  6. Select Install, and wait for the installation to complete.

Installing Delegate on macOS

macOS support is currently delivered to Community users through a platform installer and to Enterprise STS users through a DMG installer.

Prerequisites

  • Apple Silicon (M1 or later) is required.
  • macOS 26 Tahoe, macOS 15 Sequoia, or macOS 14 Sonoma recommended.
  • At least 8 GB of free disk space.
Note:

Intel Macs are not supported.

Installing with the PKG (Preview)

The macOS platform installer is a preview experience.

To install Delegate on macOS, take the following steps:

  1. Download one of the Delegate installers:

    • Community releases — Download Delegate (Preview)
    • Enterprise STS releases — download link available soon
    • Enterprise LTS releases — download link available soon
    Note:

There is a delay between Community and STS releases — features available in Community reach STS only after this delay. Community can also be expected to receive more frequent updates.

The LTS release includes every feature released to STS up to that version, on a slower, more stable update cadence.

  2. Run the UiPathPlatformCommunity.pkg (Preview) installer.

  3. Follow the installation wizard, and wait for the installation to complete.

  4. The installer shows the products to install — Studio and Assistant (which includes Delegate and Cartographer). Accept the terms in the License Agreement.

  5. Select Install, and wait for the installation to complete.

Result: Delegate is now installed.

Installing with the DMG

To install Delegate on macOS with the DMG, take the following steps:

  1. Download the Delegate installer:

    Important:

The macOS DMG installer runs on Apple Silicon (arm64) only and doesn't auto-update — install a new DMG manually to move to a newer version.

  2. Open the UiPath Assistant (arm64).dmg installer.

  3. In the disk image window, drag UiPath Assistant onto the Applications shortcut.

  4. Eject the disk image, then open UiPath Assistant from Applications.

Result: Delegate is now installed. To update later, download and install the latest DMG — it doesn't update automatically.

Connecting your organization

To connect to your organization, go to Assistant > Preferences > Orchestrator connection:

  1. Sign in to your organization with your UiPath account.
  2. Select your tenant. If you have access to multiple tenants, choose the one you want to use.
  3. Check your connection status. Once you are connected and licensed, Delegate appears as an option in the title bar switcher, ready to use.
  4. Switch profiles. The title bar shows a switcher next to the UiPath logo — Assistant, Delegate, and Cartographer — so you can move between them.

To switch between organizations or tenants, use the Assistant user profile.

Updating

Delegate updates periodically, so there's no need to restart Delegate after an update completes.

Your organization controls the update schedule and your administrator can edit the auto-update policy from Orchestrator > Policy configuration levels.

To check which version you're on, go to Settings > General > About.

Moving from the Preview installer to the GA installer

Refer to Moving from the Preview installer to the GA installer for migration steps, what carries over, and licensing changes.

Next steps

Continue to Local security configuration to set Approval mode, Screen context, and Execution mode, and work through the rest of the local security checklist.

Optionally, see Settings reference for the full list of configurable settings.
