About the SAP BAPI connector

The SAP BAPI connector enables seamless integrations with SAP business objects which enhances operational efficiency and data synchronization for streamlined business operations.

The SAP BAPI connector and activity package use the SAP Java Connector version 3.0.18 and do not require any additional user installation. The SAP Java Connector official documentation is available on the SAP support website: SAP Java Connector.

The activity package contains only one activity, Execute BAPI/RFC, and it is dynamic in nature. Based on the selected BAPI or RFC, the activity retrieves all the input and output properties for a BAPI/RFC to be executed.

Authentication

Before automating processes, you need to establish a connection with your SAP BAPI instance. Step-by-step instructions are available in the SAP BAPI authentication page.

Events

This connector doesn't support events.

Activities

You can use the connection to enable the SAP BAPI activities in UiPath® Studio and build automations that interact with your SAP BAPI workflows.

Provider documentation

The UiPath connector for SAP BAPI is based on the SAP Java Connector.

Frequently asked questions

Does setting up a SAP BAPI connection allow developers to access all SAP data?

No. The SAP BAPI connector does not bypass SAP's authorization model. Access to data is strictly governed by SAP's native user roles and authorization objects.

How is data access controlled when using the SAP BAPI connector?

All access is controlled by SAP's own authorization and user access management:

  • The SAP team defines the user, roles, and permissions.
  • The connector can only access BAPIs and data that the SAP user is explicitly authorized for.
  • UiPath does not introduce any additional access beyond what SAP allows.

Do SAP OData and SAP BAPI connectors support private or internal endpoints in Automation Suite?

No. When using UiPath Automation Suite, SAP endpoints must be accessible over the public internet. Endpoints that are only reachable within a private network (for example, internal SAP systems or non-exposed sandbox environments) are not supported and will result in connection failures such as unknown host or timeout errors.

Why is internet exposure required in Automation Suite?

Automation Suite runs in UiPath-managed infrastructure and cannot directly access customer private networks unless additional networking capabilities such as secure tunneling or private connectivity are configured. As a result, the SAP endpoint must be reachable over the internet for the connector to successfully establish a connection.

Are there any installation prerequisites for using the SAP BAPI activities?

No installations are required to use the new SAP BAPI activities from Integration Service. You can use UiPath Studio version 2023.10 or higher, or you can start creating your automations in Studio Web.
