Logging in

Overview

Users can log in to Automation Suite with:

  • A user account previously created in Automation Suite

  • A user account under a Windows Active Directory group that was previously added from the Users page Adding directory users

By default, the [NTLM authentication protocol][1] is used. To switch to [Kerberos][2], see this page.

  • A user account under an Azure Active Directory group that was previously added from the Users page.

Note: We recommend only using one out of Azure AD or Windows AD on the same Automation Suite instance.

Multiple User Sessions

Logging in with the same user on a different machine or browser session disconnects the user from the first machine/session.

Automatic Login

You can also set up your environment to automatically log in to Automation Suite, by selecting the Force automatic login with this provider checkbox when configuring SSO.

If automatic login is enabled, when accessing an Automation Suite URL without being authenticated, Automation Suite tries to automatically log you in with your current directory credentials, without redirecting to the Login page.

If automatic login is disabled, you are redirected to the Login page and have to choose to log in with a different method to log in with a directory account.

Logging in With a Local User Account

Note: To log in, an organization administrator must first create a local user account in Automation Suite from Admin > Accounts and Groups > Users.
  1. Fill in the Organization name field.

The last organization used for authentication is automatically set. If you want to use a different one, click Change and then fill in the name.

To log in to a host portal, type host as the organization name.
  2. Fill in the Username or email and Password fields with the credential for your local user account.
  3. Click Log in.

Depending on the host or organization settings, you may be required to change your password the first time you log in. If so, the Change Password page opens and you must define a new password before you can log in:

  4. In the Current Password field, type the password you used to log in.
  5. In the New Password and Confirm Password fields, type a new password of your choice.
  6. Click Change Password.

Your password is changed, and you are logged in to Automation Suite. You have access to and can view the various services in Automation suite according to your assigned roles.

Account lockout: If account lockout is enabled for your organization, after repeated failed login attempts, you are locked out for a certain amount of time. The number of allowed attempts and the lockout duration are defined by the Account lockout settings.

Logging in With a Directory User Account

Note:

This login method is only available for Automation Suite if authentication is enabled for the external provider you are using.

Also, your directory user or a directory group of which you are a member must first have been added in Automation Suite from the Users page,

  1. On the Login page, click one of the options available at the bottom, under Or log in with:

  2. You are logged in automatically.

If the AD user or group has not been added to Automation Suite, the Authorization Required dialog appears.

  3. Fill in the User Name and Password fields with your directory account credentials.
  4. Click OK.

Automation Suite opens and access is provided to the different services according to your assigned roles.

Account lockout: If account lockout is enabled for your organization, after repeated failed login attempts, you are locked out for a certain amount of time. The number of allowed attempts and the lockout duration are defined by the Account lockout settings.
