Importing Users from the Active Directory

Importing a Group from the Active Directory

  1. In IIS, enable Windows Authentication for the website:
  1. In the Web.config file, make sure the WindowsAuth.Enabled parameter is set to true.

  2. In the WindowsAuth.Domain parameter, enter the Windows domain that the AD group is in.

  3. If the URL is using an alias, then add the full URL that you use in the browser as the value for the AcceptedRootUrls parameter. For example, if you don’t use the computer name https://orchsrv001, but you defined an alias https://OrchestratorTest, then use the alias:

<add key="AcceptedRootUrls" value="https://OrchestratorTest" />
  1. Save the file.

  2. In the Users page, click the Import Users button. The Import Users window is displayed.

  3. In the Group Name, type the name of the AD group that you want to import.

  4. In the Roles field, add the role(s) that you want the users to have.

  5. Click Import. The users are imported and displayed in the Users page.

Note:

If the AD group you want to import contains other groups, they are also imported.

Importing One User from the Active Directory

  1. In the Users page, click Provision User. The Provision Users window is displayed.

  2. In the Username field, type the username of your Active Directory user.

  3. Fill in the Name, Surname and Email Address fields.

  4. Leave the Password field empty. (This is going to be taken automatically from the AD group.)

  5. Select the role or roles that you want to be assigned to that user.

Note:

If you add a password, then this user is saved as a local one.
