Rule: Add to Queue

Use the Add to Queue rule to add a new queue item in Orchestrator.

What Queue to Use

A list of available queues is displayed and you can pick the one you need. For more information on adding a queue to your app, see Referencing a Queue in your App.

If there are no queues added to your app, the list is empty and a notification is displayed in the drop-down list.

Once you pick a queue in the What queue to use field, the following properties become available:

  • Input Override
  • When successfully added to queue
  • When queue item addition failed
  • Other properties

Input Override

When the queue inputs are bound to controls, the values are automatically passed into the queue when it starts.

You can manually set input values by expanding the Input Override section of the rule and specifying the queue input and value you want to pass in. You can even add an expression in the Enter Value field. For more information on expressions, check the About Expressions section.

When Successfully Added to Queue

The When successfully added to queue property provides the ability to define rules to be executed whenever the process is completed successfully.

When Queue Item Addition Failed

The When queue item addition failed property provides the ability to define rules to be executed whenever a queue item addition fails.

Other Properties

While adding a queue item, you can specify three other properties.

Priority

You can choose the priority from the drop-down list. By default, the priority is set to Normal.

Postpone by

You can configure when the new item should start being processed after the rule is executed. You can specify a date by binding a DatePicker value or a process output parameter, or you can specify a number of hours. Decimals are also supported. For example, you can set up the delay in hours as follows:
  • 15 minutes: 15/60 or 0.25
  • 30 minutes: 30/60 or 0.5
  • 1 hour 30 minutes: 1 + 30/60 or 1.5
  • 1 hour: 1
Since this property has an expression textbox, make sure that you add = before the value.

Deadline

You can configure when the new item should finish being processed after the rule is executed. You can specify a date by binding a DatePicker value or a process output parameter, or you can specify a number of hours. Decimals are also supported. For example, you can set up the deadline in hours as follows:
  • 15 minutes: 15/60 or 0.25
  • 30 minutes: 30/60 or 0.5
  • 1 hour 30 minutes: 1 + 30/60 or 1.5
  • 1 hour: 1
Since this property has an expression textbox, make sure that you add = before the value.

The counter starts as soon as the item is added to queue.

Reference

The Referencefield is used if you have the Enforce unique references set for a queue.
