StudioX User Guide

Introduction

UiPath StudioX is a complete solution for automating business applications. It aims to enable every business user to automate repetitive tasks by offering seamless integration with Microsoft Office applications and an intuitive user interface that makes it easy to create automations. After you create an automation, you can run it and share it with your colleagues.

The end result of working in StudioX is the automation project, a custom set of steps called activities. Each activity performs an action, such as clicking a button, copying data from one Excel file to another, or saving an Outlook email attachment to a folder. You add activities, define the execution order and the relationships between them in the Designer panel where you can also view a real-time graphic representation of your project.

Get familiar with StudioX using the available resources:

  • For a quick introduction video and a step-by-step guide on how to create a simple task automation, see Creating Your First Automation Project.
  • If you are eager to start creating automations, check out the tutorials that teach you how to automate your tasks in various scenarios.
  • Training courses are available to help you learn how to use StudioX. Enroll for free in the UiPath Academy.

To set up StudioX, create, and execute an automation project, complete these steps:

  1. Install UiPath Studio and select the StudioX profile.
  2. Install the Excel Add-in to be able to seamlessly switch between StudioX and Excel when configuring your automations. If you plan to automate tasks you perform in web browsers, also install the extension for your preferred web browser. For more information, see Extensions in the Installation and Upgrade Guide.
  3. Create a task automation project.
  4. Build your automation by adding activities, test the automation, and make adjustments to the project as needed to ensure the automation works as intended. For more information, see Creating Automations.
  5. Publish the project, and then send it to UiPath Robot for execution. For more information, see About Publishing Automation Projects in the Studio Guide.
