JavaScript and TypeScript functions [Preview]
Functions can now be authored in JavaScript and TypeScript, alongside Python. A JavaScript function declares itself with defineFunction and is authored with the @uipath/coded-functions-js-sdk SDK.
Two capabilities have no Python counterpart:
- HTTP endpoints. A function that declares a method and a path is reachable over HTTP, so it can back a Coded App directly, holding the credentials and business rules the browser must never see. A function that declares neither runs as an Orchestrator job, like its Python counterpart. Either way the run appears in Executions with its input, output, and logs.
- Execution context. A handler receives a context carrying two identities, the caller's and the function's own, so it can either act on behalf of the signed-in user or reach Orchestrator under its own robot identity.
Typed contracts are declared as TypeScript interfaces or through defineSchema<T>(), and exported as JSON Schema, so typed fields appear in the binding UI on every invocation surface. Local development, packaging, and publishing run through the uip function CLI.

Build coded functions with a coding agent — Public Preview
You can now build coded functions entirely from a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and others) and terminal.
The uipath-functions skill scaffolds a Python or TypeScript/JavaScript function, declares its input and output contracts, tests it locally, and packs and publishes it. The skill is available to install via uip skills install.
