Creating an AWS IAM role for Data Bridge

Steps and requirements for creating an AWS IAM role that enables Peak to securely access an Amazon S3 bucket or connect to Redshift clusters.

Creating an AWS IAM role enables Peak to securely access your Amazon S3 bucket or connect to Redshift clusters. Peak provides the policy template; you create the IAM role in AWS and share the role ARN with Peak.

Prerequisites

Before creating an AWS IAM role, ensure you have the following:

  • You have access to the AWS Management Console.
  • You have the IAM policy JSON generated by Peak.

Steps

Follow these steps to create an AWS IAM role:

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console as an IAM user or root user.
  2. Open IAM and select Roles.
  3. Select Create role.
  4. For Role type, select Another AWS account.
  5. Enter the Peak AWS account ID: 794236216820.
  6. Clear Require MFA and leave Require external ID empty.
  7. Select Next to open the permissions page.
  8. Select Create policy and paste the Peak IAM policy JSON on the JSON tab.
  9. Select Review policy, then enter a name and description.
  10. Select Create policy and close the policy window.
  11. Refresh the policy list, select the new policy, and continue.
  12. Enter a role name and description, then select Create role.
  13. Open the new role and copy the Role ARN from the Summary section.

Result

You can use the Role ARN in the Data Bridge configuration for a customer-managed data lake.
