# Using the manual execution assistant

> Mark each manual test case step as passed or failed and move through a test set using the manual execution assistant.

The manual execution assistant guides you through a set of manual tests one after another. You need to set a result on each manual step to advance to the next test case in the test set. Through the Manual Execution Assistant, you need to treat and mark steps in each case either as passed or failed.

If the test case has a description, it appears before **Precondition** in a collapsible **Test case description** panel. You can select the panel to expand the full text without leaving the execution window.

## Steps

1. To mark the progress of each step in the test case, select **Set Failed** or **Set Passed**. For test cases with multiple steps, you set the result of each step individually.

2. In the **Tester comment** section, add comments, especially when marking a step as failed, to supply specific information about the outcome.
3. After marking a step, select **Set Passed Until Here** to set the following steps as passed.
4. Once you conclude a test case by assigning a result to the last step, select **Next**. This action advances you to the next test case within your test set.
5. Repeat steps one to four until you reach the final test case in the test set.
6. Verify the postcondition, if one is specified for the manual test, after assigning a result to the last step of a test case.
   1. If the postcondition is satisfied, select **Condition Met**.
   2. If the postcondition is not met, leave **Condition Met** unselected.
7. After finishing the last test case, select **Done** to complete the entire execution process.

## Result

All test cases in the test set are marked as passed or failed, and the execution process is complete.
