# Managing approvers for governed test case logs

> Add and remove approvers on a governed test case log in Test Manager, independently of the parent test case's approvers.

When a test case log is created, it automatically inherits every signatory record (approver) assigned to its parent test case at that moment. From then on, you can add or remove approvers on the test case log itself, independently of the parent test case.

## Prerequisites

To add or remove approvers, you must hold the **Test Manager Administrator** role, the **Test Governance Administrator** role, the **Project Owner** role, or be assigned the **Test Process Governance** permission. The **Approver** role has this permission by default.

## Steps

1. To add approvers to a specific test case log:
   1. Open the governed test case log.
   2. Select the **Governance** section.
   3. Select **Add Approvers**.
   4. In the **Add Approvers** panel, select the users and groups responsible for signing the log.
   5. Select **Add**.
2. To remove approvers from a specific test case log:
   1. Open the governed test case log.
   2. Identify the approver you want to remove, go to the end of the row, right-select the three-dot vertical menu, and, from the context menu, select **Delete approvers**.

If an approver on the log references a user or group that no longer exists, for example a deleted user, Test Manager flags that signatory record in the **Governance** section.

## Result

The approvers are added to, or removed from, the governed test case log. By default, a newly added signatory record starts in the **Unsigned** state and must sign before the log can transition to **Signed**.
