UiPath Studio Guide

About Licensing

After installing and running Studio for the first time, the user is prompted with a license activation wizard featuring several options:

  • Activate Community Edition - A free Community license can be requested, lasting for a limited period of time, which is renewable. This option can only be activated online. The Robot that comes with the Community Edition Studio can only be connected to the UiPath Orchestrator Comunity Edition, under your own tenant. This option is available only with the UiPathStudioSetup.exe.
  • Activate Stand-Alone License - If the user has a stand-alone enterprise trial or license code, Studio can be activated by selecting this option. This type of license activates the Enterprise Edition of Studio. This activation can be done both online or offline. For more information, please see the Activating your Studio License.
  • Acquire License from Orchestrator - Activate your Studio with a license provided in Orchestrator, depending on the type of Robots defined in Orchestrator.
    1. Attended Robot - UiPath Studio is used with an Attended Robot, which means that the user can only run or debug processes, and not edit workflows.
    2. Development - UiPath Studio is used with a Development Robot, which means that the user can run, modify and debug processes.
    3. NonProduction - UiPath Studio is used with a NonProduction Robot, meaning that the user can troubleshoot workflows.
    4. Unattended - UiPath Studio is used with an Unattended Robot, meaning that the user can troubleshoot workflows.

Connecting to Orchestrator

Studio can also be connected to Orchestrator, with the help of a Development license. As a result, licenses from Orchestrator are consumed for using the automatic publishing package feature in Studio. The allocated licensed will be shown in the License Page on Orchestrator

To perform this action, you need to either have Studio licensed locally or an active connection to Orchestrator, in which case the license from Orchestrator has priority over the local one.To do so connect the Robot to Orchestrator using a Development license.
