# Process Insights (preview)

> The **Process Insights** dashboard provides an overview of anomalies and deviations, and shows how they impact your KPIs. Unusual patterns in process flows, such as unexpected handovers between team members, excessive delays in activities, or abnormal workload distribution are automatically identified. This allows you to quickly pinpoint areas that deviate from the standard process, enabling faster identification of inefficiencies, compliance risks, or potential operational issues.

## Deviations and anomalies

A **deviation** refers to a variation from the expected process flow. When the actual process execution differs from the reference model, this indicates non-conformance with the defined process. Deviations may impact compliance, performance, or process consistency, depending on the context. Check out [Conformance checking](https://docs.uipath.com/process-mining/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/conformance-checking) for more information on deviations and deviation types.

**Anomalies** represent significant outliers, unusual patterns, or unexpected behavior in the process data that are detected during ingestion. For example, "`HighActivityThroughputTime` on activity X flags cases where activity X took significantly longer than usual".

Process Insights helps in automatically detecting these deviations and anomalies, providing insights into how they impact process performance and compliance metrics.

## Displaying the Process Insights dashboard

To display the **Process Insights** dashboard, select **Process Insights** in the menu on the left of the dashboard.

The **Process Insights** dashboard is displayed.
:::tip
You can also open the **Process Insights** dashboard from the Process Insights panel when working with process graphs.
:::

## Selecting a different process

If multiple processes are defined for your process app, you can select a different process for **Process Insights**. This enables you to detect process enhancement opportunities for all the relevant processes.

## Viewing Process Insights

Follow these steps to view and analyze Process Insights.

1. From the **Select KPIs to include in your analysis** list, select the KPIs relevant to your Process Insights analysis.

Each unique Process Insight appears as a separate card. Process Insights with the highest impact on the selected KPIs appear at the top.

:::tip
You can use the **Category**, **Type**, and **Insight** filters to display specific types of Process Insights.
:::
The following table describes the elements of a Process Insights card.

| **Element** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Category | The category of the Process Insight. For example, Deviation or Anomaly. |
| Impact score | Impact of the Process Insight on the KPI classified as high, medium, or low. Impact score reflects both how many cases are affected and how strongly the KPI deviates. |
| Type | The type of the Process Insight. For example, High activity throughput time, High activity cycle time, Rework, or Low automation. |
| Description | A short description of the Process Insight. |
| Cases impacted | The percentage of cases impacted by the Process Insight. |
| KPI | The actual value of the KPI. |
| KPI delta | The difference between the actual KPI value and the baseline. |
| Root cause analysis | Opens the **Root cause analysis** dashboard filtered by the selected Process Insight to help identify the root cause of an anomaly. |
| Actions menu | **Apply as filter**: Enables you to filter on the Process Insight for detailed analysis. |
