### Upgrading and downgrading licenses

The [Upgrading and downgrading licenses](https://docs.uipath.com/automation-cloud/automation-cloud/latest/admin-guide/upgrading-and-downgrading-licenses) page in the Automation Cloud guide describes how to upgrade from your current licensing plan to a more comprehensive plan, as well as what happens when your license expires and it is downgraded.

In case of **downgrading your license plan**, you lose access to Orchestrator features made available by the plan you were on. Expect the following behavior:

* Ability to creating, manage, and use external Credential Stores
+ You are no longer able to add an external Credential Store, but you can continue to use Orchestrator Database as the default configuration.
+ In case you previously configured an external Credential Store, you are no longer able to store or retrieve any credentials or assets; this applies for accessing your external store directly through Orchestrator but also through Orchestrator Connected Proxy.
* Ability to creating and manage custom roles
+ You are no longer able to add any new roles in addition to the ones already existing in Orchestrator, or those already created.
+ In case you previously created custom roles, you can still use or delete them.
* Live streaming and remote controlling
+ You are no longer able to enable this feature which allows you to view a live streaming of a job and control it remotely.

In case of **downgrading your user license**, you lose access to Orchestrator features made available by the user license you were on. Expect the following behavior:

* Ability to execute attended automations
+ For some licenses a reduced set of Automations might be available in UiPath Assistant
* Number of active projects (published and executable)
+ For some licenses, you are limited to maximum one (1) published process in your personal workspace; this limitation applies when attempting to publish Automations, Solutions, or Agents.
+ Having granted a license which enables unlimited published and executable allows you to have more than one (1) published process in the personal workspace.
