Cloud robots are UiPath-managed execution hosts that run processes without requiring you to provision or maintain on-premises infrastructure. UiPath handles all the work behind the scenes — you configure your automations in Orchestrator and run jobs, while UiPath manages the underlying compute resources.

## Cloud robot types

UiPath provides three cloud robot types, each designed for different infrastructure ownership and workload needs:

| Type | Description | Best suited for |
|------|-------------|-----------------|
| [Automation Cloud™ Robots - VM](https://docs.uipath.com/orchestrator/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/about-automation-cloud-robots-vm) | UiPath provides a virtual machine in the UiPath cloud. You configure the VM and run jobs; UiPath manages provisioning and maintenance. | Unattended automations that require a fully configured virtual machine environment. |
| [Automation Cloud™ Robots - Serverless](https://docs.uipath.com/orchestrator/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/automation-cloud-robots-serverless) | No infrastructure provisioning required. UiPath manages all containers and scaling so you can run automations with no infrastructure overhead. | Background automations and performance testing scenarios that do not require managing underlying infrastructure. |
| [Elastic Robot Orchestration](https://docs.uipath.com/orchestrator/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/elastic-robot-orchestration) | Auto-scaling robots hosted in your own cloud account. UiPath orchestrates provisioning and scaling on your behalf, within parameters you set. | Unattended workloads with variable demand where you want robots running in your own cloud environment. |
