# Consuming models via Flow

> Use IXP models in UiPath Maestro™ Flow through the Extract node, whether the model is published from IXP, created in the same flow, or created in another flow of the same or a different solution.

The option that you select when you add the **Extract** node depends on where the model was created and where you want to use it:

| **Scenario** | **Option in the node palette** |
| --- | --- |
| Use an IXP model published from IXP. | **Published** |
| Create a model and use it in the same flow. | **Extract document** |
| Create a model in a flow and use it in another flow of the same solution. | **In this solution** |
| Create a model in a flow and use it in a flow of another solution. | **Published** |

For details on the **Extract** node, check [Managing Extract nodes](managing-extract-nodes.md).

## Using an IXP model published from IXP

To use an IXP model that you published from IXP, proceed as follows:

1. Open your flow in Maestro Flow.
2. Select **Add node**, then **Document**, then **Extract**.
3. Select **Published**, and then select the IXP model from the dropdown list. Each model appears as an individual node.

**Result:** The **Extract** node is added to the Flow canvas, bound to the selected model. The taxonomy and the model configuration are read-only in the node.

## Creating a model and using it in the same flow

To create a model and use it in the same flow, proceed as follows:

1. Open your flow in Maestro Flow.
2. Select **Add node**, then **Document**, then **Extract**.
3. Select **Extract document**. This option creates a new node and, implicitly, a new model.
4. Build the model in the node. For details, check [Overview](overview-build.md) in the **Model building** section.

**Result:** The **Extract** node is added to the Flow canvas, and you can edit its taxonomy and its fields. The next nodes of the flow consume the output of the node. For details, check [Output](managing-extract-nodes.md#output).

## Using a model in another flow of the same solution

To use a model that you created in an **Extract** node in another flow of the same solution, proceed as follows:

1. In the same solution, open the flow in which you want to use the model.
2. Select **Add node**, then **Document**, then **Extract**.
3. Select **In this solution**, and then select the **Extract** node from the dropdown list.

**Result:** The **Extract** node is added to the Flow canvas, bound to the model of the selected node.

## Using a model in a flow of another solution

To use a model that you created in an **Extract** node in a flow of another solution, you must first deploy the model. The model is deployed together with the Flow solution that contains the **Extract** node. For details, check [Deploying models](deploying-models.md).

After you deploy the model, proceed as follows:

1. Open the flow in which you want to use the model.
2. Select **Add node**, then **Document**, then **Extract**.
3. Select **Published**, and then select the model deployed from the **Extract** node of the other flow.

**Result:** The **Extract** node is added to the Flow canvas, bound to the deployed model.
