# About Installation

> AI Fabric is UiPath's machine learning platform that can run and train machine learning models from you, third parties or our range of out-of-box models. AI Fabric also supports UiPath Document Understanding models. AI Fabric can be used without Document Understanding (i.e. without having to install Data Manager and OCR Engines).

## Artifacts Required to Install AI Fabric

* For **Airgapped installation** you need to download the AI Fabric install bundle and transfer it to the machine where you want to install AI Fabric.
* An AI Fabric license file provided when you first purchased AI Fabric is required to complete the installation. This file should have been given to you by your Sales Executive or from the UiPath Deal Hub team. If misplaced, this license file can be provided by your customer success manager or [our support team](https://www.uipath.com/company/contact-us/contact-technical-support). This license file contains the number of AI Robot licenses for your instance. * For Production installations, a **domain certificate** from a trusted CA is highly recommended. If no **domain certificate** is provided, the application will use a self-signed certificate thus requiring other machines that access AI Fabric (robots/Studio) to add that self-signed certificate in their trusted store.

  If you require Data Manager to use an ML Skill (DU model or UiPath OCR) in AI Fabric for prelabeling, a self-signed certificate will not work. You must use a trusted domain certificate to enable this functionality.

## Artifacts Required to Install Document Understanding

Make sure:

* For **Airgapped installation** you need to download the AI Fabric install bundle and transfer it to the machine where you want to install AI Fabric.
* You received registry credentials from your Sales Executive or from the UiPath Deal Hub team.
* The **Document Understanding** API Key in Automation Cloud is active.

Registry credentials should have been given to you by your Sales Executive of from the UiPath Deal Hub team. If misplaced, the registry credentials can be provided by your customer success manager or [our support team](https://www.uipath.com/company/contact-us/contact-technical-support).

The Document Understanding models will be added to AI Fabric through the AI Fabric installer. There is no need to do anything else, all that is needed to use these models is a valid Document Understanding API Key.
