# Uploading sample documents​

> Before you start building your extraction schema, upload your sample documents. Make sure the uploaded documents are representative of your data and cover all possible variations.

Before you start building your extraction schema, upload your sample documents. Make sure the uploaded documents are representative of your data and cover all possible variations.

1. Once you have [created an Unstructured and complex documents project](https://docs.uipath.com/ixp/automation-cloud/latest/overview/managing-projects#creating-new-projects), upload your sample documents.
2. In the **Upload documents** section, either drag and drop your sample documents or browse for them using the **Click to browse** option. Make sure the uploaded documents are a representative sample of your data and cover all possible variations.

   The supported file formats are:
   * PDF​
   * PNG​
   * JPG or JPEG ​
   * TIF or TIFF

3. As soon as the documents are uploaded successfully, you can:
   * Filter by **Annotated** or **Not started or In progress** documents.
   * Search by a document name.
   * View the following details:
     + **Uploaded date**.
     + **Annotation Status** - Shows whether the document is annotated or unannotated. It displays the **Annotated**, **Not started**, and **In progress** statuses.
     + **Error rate** - The rate of mismatches between annotations and predictions from the latest validated model version. This column updates as new versions are validated.
