# Enabling governance at test case log level

> Govern a test case log directly in Test Manager, independently of its parent test case's governance state.

A test case log's governance state is inherited from its parent test case at creation. This topic explains how to govern a test case log directly, independently of its parent test case, for example if a log was created before its parent test case was governed, or if you need to govern a specific log without governing the whole test case.

## Prerequisites

To enable governance on a test case log, you must hold the **Test Manager Administrator** role, the **Test Governance Administrator** role, the **Project Owner** role, or be assigned the **Test Process Governance** permission.

## Steps

1. Go to the test set execution or test case log view containing the log you want to govern.
2. Open the test case log.
3. Toggle on the **Governed** option for the log. The log's state is set to **In Work**. The **Governance** section becomes visible and enabled.
4. Assign approvers to the log, as described in [Managing approvers for governed test case logs](https://docs.uipath.com/test-manager/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/managing-approvers-for-governed-test-case-logs).

## Result

Governance is enabled for the test case log, independently of the parent test case's governance state. The log is now a disjoint governed entity: subsequently disabling governance on the parent test case has no effect on this log.
