# Users and Groups

> As an Organization Administrator, you can manage user and group access to Test Manager projects. This role is independent of any role assignment.

As an Organization Administrator, you can manage user and group access to Test Manager projects. This role is independent of any role assignment.

## Conditions

:::important
Access management works with Orchestrator version 2021.10 or higher.
:::

* Organization Administrator is set by default as **Project owner** on all projects.
* Access to Test Manager privileges is granted only by the Organization Administrator or the **Project owner**, by assigning users and roles to the project.
* You can transfer project ownership to another user only if you are an Organization Administrator or a **Project owner**.
* Users that are signed in cannot be removed until they sign out.

## Enable access management

To manage users and groups, you need to enable access management in your Test Manager project. Open Test Manager and navigate to **Project Settings** > **Manage access**, open a project, click **Enable now**, and then confirm your action. Now you can start assigning users and groups to your organization's projects.

## Assign Users and Groups

If you have [enabled access management](managing-users-and-groups.md), you can start assigning users and groups to your project.

1. Sign in to Test Manager.
2. Open a project.
3. Navigate to **Project Settings** > **Manage Access**.
4. Click **Assign users/groups**.
5. Enter a user or group in the form field.
6. Press **Enter** to add the user/group. You can add multiple users and groups at once.
7. Click **Add** to confirm your action. The users and groups are now assigned to the project.

## Transfer Project Ownership

As **Project owner**, you can transfer this role to another user. The new user can grant Test Manager access to users and groups, and perform administrative tasks.

1. Sign in to Test Manager.
2. Open a project.
3. Navigate to **Project Settings** > **Manage Access**.
4. Find the user to which you want to transfer project ownership and click the vertical ellipsis.
5. Select **Transfer ownership** in the dropdown list.
6. Confirm your action. Project ownership is now transferred to the new user.

## Remove Individual User and Groups

1. Sign in to Test Manager.
2. Open a project.
3. Navigate to **Project Settings** > **Manage Access**.
4. Find the user or group that you want to remove and click the vertical ellipsis.
5. Select **Remove user** or **Remove group** in the dropdown list.
6. Confirm your action.

**Troubleshooting Access Management**

Users that have been disabled receive the following message:

To solve this issue, the user can request access, followed by approval by the Test Manager administrator.

## Behavior of unlicensed users

Users invited to an organization without a **Tester - Named User** license can still explore Test Manager projects where they hold the **Viewer** role. Unlicensed users who hold the **Viewer** role in a project can perform the following actions:

* Open the project.
* Review and navigate through test objects, such as:
  * Requirements
  * Test Cases
  * Test Sets
* Go to the **Execution** tab and view the list of grouped executions by **Test Set**.

  Users who don't have a **Tester - Named User** license cannot open a test execution and view its details.
