# Step 1: Complete prerequisites for performance scenarios

> Complete all licensing, infrastructure, and configuration prerequisites before creating performance scenarios in Test Manager.

Make sure all prerequisites are met before creating performance scenarios.

1. Make sure all [licensing prerequisites](https://docs.uipath.com/test-manager/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/licensing-model-for-performance-testing "Performance testing is licensed through the Performance Testing Virtual Users Bundle package. All automations or robots executing performance tests consume Virtual User units (VU Units), which represent the number of concurrent virtual users that can run during a test.") are met.
2. Make sure all [software and system requirements](https://docs.uipath.com/test-manager/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/software-and-system-requirements "Before you create and execute performance testing scenarios in Test Manager, make sure your organization and tenant meet the required infrastructure, robot, and test automation prerequisites. The configuration depends on the type of robot used to execute the load with: cloud robots or App Testing robots (unattended), on-premises robots.") are met.
3. Make sure all [system requirements are met for on-premises robots](https://docs.uipath.com/test-manager/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/on-premises-robot-system-requirements "Observe the recommended system requirements and configuration guidelines for running performance testing robots in an on-premises environment. These recommendations are based on UiPath internal benchmarks and field investigations."), if you want to use this automation type.
4. Make sure you [create automated tests](https://docs.uipath.com/test-manager/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/creating-automated-tests "Before running performance scenarios, you must create, publish, link and assign your tests.").
5. Make sure you (administrator) assign the Performance Tester role within your Test Manager project. Only users with this role can create and run performance scenarios. Refer to the [privileges associated with each role](https://docs.uipath.com/test-manager/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/managing-users-and-groups#user-and-group-access-management).
   1. Log in to Test Manager.
   2. Open a project and go to the project settings.
   3. Go to the **Manage Access** tab.
   4. Select a user (or add them if not already listed).
   5. In the **Assign users/groups** panel, select the **Performance Tester** check box.
   6. Select **Add**.
6. Make sure your users also have the necessary privileges to execute jobs in Orchestrator. Without these rights, performance scenarios will not be able to start successfully. Refer to the [privileges associated with each role](https://docs.uipath.com/test-manager/automation-cloud/latest/user-guide/managing-users-and-groups#user-and-group-access-management).

## Result

All prerequisites are met and the **Performance Tester** role is assigned to the relevant users. You can proceed to create and run performance scenarios in Test Manager.
