# UiPath CLI

> What the UiPath CLI does for Maestro Automate, and where to find its installation steps and command reference.

The UiPath CLI, `uip`, is a command-line tool for working with UiPath from a terminal. Coding agents use it to create, run, and deploy workflows for you, and the VS Code extension uses it in the background. You rarely type `uip` commands yourself, but the CLI must be installed for a coding agent or VS Code to work with Maestro Automate.

The UiPath CLI guide covers it in full:

- [About UiPath CLI](/uipath-cli/standalone/latest/user-guide/about-uipath-cli): what the CLI does and how it fits with coding agents.
- [Installing UiPath CLI](/uipath-cli/standalone/latest/user-guide/installing-uipath-cli): install it on macOS, Linux, or Windows.
- [Authentication](/uipath-cli/standalone/latest/user-guide/authentication): sign in to your UiPath account from the terminal.
- [Skills](/uipath-cli/standalone/latest/user-guide/concepts-skills): the UiPath skills that teach a coding agent how to build workflows.
- [Reference overview](/uipath-cli/standalone/latest/user-guide/command-reference): every command and option.
