# Rename Sheet Workbook (preview)

> Rename Sheet Workbook activity that renames a sheet in an Excel workbook.

## Description

Renames a sheet in an Excel workbook. This is the cross-platform equivalent of the [Rename Sheet](https://docs.uipath.com/activities/other/latest/productivity/rename-sheet-x) Windows activity.

This activity does not support `.xls` files.

## Properties

### Common

* **DisplayName** - The name displayed for the activity in the Designer panel.

### Input

* **File** - The full path of the resource workbook. To switch to a local path, select the plus icon, and then **Use Local File**. The current field changes to **File (local path)**, where you can provide the full path of the workbook.
* **Sheet Name** - The name of the existing sheet to rename. This field is required.
* **New Sheet Name** - The new name of the sheet. This field is required.

### Options

* **Password** - The password of the workbook, if necessary.

### Use Workbook

* **Workbook** - The existing workbook to use instead of a file path.

## Notes

The activity fails with an error in the following cases:

* **Sheet Name** or **New Sheet Name** is empty.
* The sheet does not exist.
* A sheet named **New Sheet Name** already exists.
