# Insert Sheet Workbook (preview)

> Insert Sheet Workbook activity that inserts a new sheet into an Excel workbook, optionally at a specific position.

## Description

Inserts a new sheet into an Excel workbook, optionally at a specific position. This is the cross-platform equivalent of the [Insert Sheet](https://docs.uipath.com/activities/other/latest/productivity/insert-sheet-x) Windows activity.

## Properties

### Common

* **DisplayName** - The name displayed for the activity in the Designer panel.

### Input

* **File** - The full path of the resource workbook. To switch to a local path, select the plus icon, and then **Use Local File**. The current field changes to **File (local path)**, where you can provide the full path of the workbook.
* **New Sheet Name** - The name of the sheet to create. This field is required.

### Options

* **Position** - The 1-based position at which to insert the new sheet. The value must be at least 1. A value greater than the number of sheets adds the sheet at the end. If you don't specify a position, the sheet is added at the end.
* **Password** - The password of the workbook, if necessary.

### Use Workbook

* **Workbook** - The existing workbook to use instead of a file path.

## Notes

* This activity has no **SheetName** property, because it creates the sheet itself instead of acting on an existing sheet.
* The activity fails with an error if a sheet with the same name already exists, if **New Sheet Name** is empty, or if **Position** is less than 1.
