Distributing Your Licenses

When you decide to increase your automation power and add one or more services to the account, you need to allocate licenses to the new service(s). Since all your available licenses are already allocated to your first service - the one created automatically when signing up for your account, you can either request additional licenses, or you can distribute your existing licenses between your existing services.

In order to distribute the existing licenses between your services, first edit a service that contains a larger number of licenses, decreasing the number of allocated licenses, and afterwards edit the service with no or few licenses, increasing the number of allocated licenses up to the available number.

Important!

You can distribute your licenses between your services if you have the Account Owner or Account Admin role.

Freeing Up Licenses from a Service

When there are unused licenses allocated to a service, it's a good idea to free up some of them to be re-distributed later to other services. Here is how you can edit a service to deallocate some of the licenses:

  1. Click Ellipses button Ellipsis button next to the service you want to edit. A drop-down menu displays, with several options.
  1. Select Edit option. The Edit Service window is displayed.
  2. Decrease the number of allocated licenses for any (or all) Robot type(s):
    • Attended Robots - Named User
    • Unattended Robots - Runtime
    • Studio (Development Robots) - Named User
    • NonProduction Robots - Runtime.
  1. Click Save button. The Edit Service window is closed, and the Service update in progress notification is displayed, informing you that the service is being updated.

The service's status becomes Updating until the process is completed, then it reverts to its previous status. The number of licenses for each Robot type is updated according to the values you've entered.

Checking License Usage for a Service

To ensure that the licenses allocated to each of your services are actually being used - Robots executed jobs, you can view the License Usage tab at the desired service level.

  1. Click Manage Service icon Manage Service next to the service you want to view. Services > [Selected Service] page opens, with Users tab displayed.
  2. Select License Usage tab. The License Usage tab is displayed with information about the number of allocated versus used licenses for every license type (Attended Robots, Unattended Robots, Development Robots, and NonProduction Robots).

If there are unused licenses allocated to the service, you can decide to free them up and reallocate them to another service, instead of buying new licenses for that service.

Allocating Licenses to a Service

When you have free licenses on your hands and one of your services could use them, here's how you can allocate them to the service:

  1. Click Ellipses button Ellipsis button next to the service you want to edit. A drop-down menu displays, with several options.
  1. Select Edit option. Edit Service window displays.
  2. Increase the number* of allocated licenses for each Robot type:
    • Attended Robots - Named User
    • Unattended Robots - Runtime
    • Studio (Development Robots) - Named User
    • NonProduction Robots - Runtime.

Note:

You cannot allocate more than the available number of licenses for each Robot type.

  1. Click Save button. The Edit Service window is closed, and the Service update in progress notification is displayed.

The service's status becomes Updating until the process is completed, then it reverts to its previous status. The number of licenses for each Robot type is updated according to the values you've entered.
