# Create Spreadsheet

> Create Spreadsheet activity that creates a new LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet file in the specified folder.

## Description

Creates a new spreadsheet file in the specified folder.

This activity creates a new LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet file, optionally password-protected, and returns it as a resource. You can pass the result directly to other LibreOffice Calc activities.

This package requires LibreOffice to be installed, and runs on Windows x64 or macOS 13.3 or later on Apple Silicon.

## Configuration

You can configure the activity and its properties as follows:

* **Folder path** - The folder where the new spreadsheet file is created. The folder must exist.
* **File name** - The name of the new file, without extension. The extension is appended automatically based on the selected type.
* **Type** - The file format of the new spreadsheet. Select one of the following options:
  + **ODS** - OpenDocument Spreadsheet (`.ods`). This is the default option.
  + **XLSX** - Office Open XML Spreadsheet (`.xlsx`).

### Properties panel

#### Options
* **First sheet name** - The name of the first sheet in the new spreadsheet. Defaults to `Sheet1`. If you leave it empty, the default sheet name is used.
* **If the spreadsheet already exists** - The conflict resolution behavior when a spreadsheet with the same name already exists. Select one of the following options:
  + **Don't replace** - Fails if an existing file is found. This is the default option.
  + **Replace** - Replaces the existing file.
  + **Auto rename** - Automatically renames the new file by appending a number.
* **Password** - An optional password to protect the new spreadsheet file. Only applies to formats that support encryption.

#### Output
* **Spreadsheet** - The newly created spreadsheet. You can pass it directly to the **Resource file** field of another LibreOffice Calc activity.
